William Arthur "Bill" Urie P.Eng

(Retired teacher of 30 years at St. Lawrence College, Kingston) Surrounded by his family at Arbour Heights Nursing Home, on Friday, January 30, 2015 at the age of 77 years. Beloved husband for 46 years of Helen Urie (Hunt). Loved father of Diane (Jairo), Sheryl (James) and Tanya (Rob). Cherished grandfather of Sofia, Mateo, Hannah, Sarah, William, Alessio, Jeremy and Nathan. Dear brother of John (Marlene) and Bernice (Alan). Fondly remembered by the Hunt Family and many nieces and nephews. Thank you to the staff of Arbour Heights for the compassionate care they have provided for the past four years. Arlene Wall

Passed on unexpectedly, at the Kingston General Hospital, on Wednesday, January 7, 2015, at the age of 75. She was comforted by her husband Norm, of 55 years, as well as her loving daughter, Laura Leeman (Mike) in her final moments. She is survived by her mother, Trudy Stanfield and her son, Jim (Judy). She will be greatly missed by her grandchildren, Josh Edwards, Scott Leeman, Richard Wall (Kelsey) and Jacqueline Wall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Salvation Army, in Arlene's memory.

Larry "Wink" Wilson

Surrounded by his loving family, Wink's spirit took flight to the higher heavens Tuesday, February 24, 2015. He will be dearly missed by his wife Jane, sons Jeff and Dan and grandson Jacob. He also leaves two sisters, Marilyn Cassidy and Shirley McCaugherty (Wayne) and their extended families. Other family members include sister-in-law Debbie (Tom) Stirton Massey and the entire Stirton clan. He will be fondly remembered by Jane's brothers and their families. Predeceased by parents Helen and William Moore and Sharron and Linda Wilson. Wink was a machinist by trade who started his career at Alcan. Over time, he took his teacher training to pass his trade on to others, first at the High School level and then as a faculty member of the Mechanical Technology Department at St. Lawrence College. An avid sports fan, Wink was a diehard Leaf fan. He made lifelong friends playing endless rounds of golf at Glen Lawrence and Cataraqui. Many of those same friends curled or played hockey for the Portsmouth Oldtimers or the Rad Devils, waiting for the next golf season to begin. One of Wink's greatest gifts was his ability to make anyone he met laugh. Many thanks to the kind and caring doctors, nurses and aids who helped along his journey. Ronald Douglas McPhee

(Retired Teacher St. Lawrence College and Retired Captain R.C.A.F.) Passed away peacefully with his loving wife at his side at Trillium Ridge Nursing Home in Kingston on Monday, June 22, 2015. He was born to Clinton and Bernice (nee Park) McPhee on November 5th, 1938 near Glenavon, Saskatchewan. Ron is survived by his wife Mary Alice (nee Andrews); daughter Wendy McPhee of Toronto and her daughters Adriana and Kayleigh Bass; daughter DeeAnn Kennedy (Michael) of Hartington and their children Daphne, Ben, Melanie, Jaclyn, Shane and Maya; son David and his daughter Rachel Olsen of Pembroke. Ron also leaves his sister Norma Doerr and husband Don of Estevan SK, and their children Bob (Colinda) and Barb (Stan) Gessner; sister Carol McPhee of Regina SK and her daughter Lisa Marie; brother John McPhee of Yorkton, SK and children David and Angella. Ron was predeceased by his youngest brother Warren and is survived by Warren's widow Teresa Strachan (Vern) of Regina and their daughters Charmaine Filteau (Brad) and Sara Langley (Jesse). Ron also leaves his brothers- and sisters-in-law in Nebraska: Lucetta Andrews (late husband Don) of Cambridge; Bob Andrews also of Cambridge (who survives Connie); and Roger Andrews (June) of Grand Island. Ron was pre-deceased by his brother-in-law Dick Andrews and his wife Jan. Ron leaves several nieces and nephews in Nebraska, Wyoming and Kansas, and great nieces and nephews in Saskatchewan and the mid-west U.S. Ron completed a degree in Mathematics at the University of Saskatchewan in 1962. During a leave from the Air Force Reserve Officer's Training Program he completed his Masters in Mathematics at the University of Nebraska. He met Mary Alice Andrews in Nebraska and they were married on December 21, 1963. Ron was posted first to Summerside, P.E.I., then to Ottawa. Once he left the Air Force in 1968 he joined the Math Department at St. Lawrence College in Kingston. He taught at St. Lawrence until he retired in 1998, a year after he was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease. Ron and Mary took two sabbaticals, one to Regina in the mid 1970's for two years, and another to Ballarat, Australia from 1986-7. Ron fell in love with Australia and returned there several times. Ron was dedicated to the United Church, the NDP, union activities, the Kingston Y Service Club, travel (he saw much of the world), jazz music, camping, the cabin he designed and built near Charleston Lake, gardening, the Saskatchewan Roughriders, creating Celtic knotwork and exploring genealogy. Ron faced Parkinson's with great determination and humbleness. His humour, humanity and energy will be missed. Mathys "Matt" Flikweert

Peacefully entered into rest at Brockville General Hospital Charles St. Site, on Friday, September 4th, 2015, Matt Flikweert of Mallorytown aged 77 years. Beloved husband of Joanna (Hazelaar) Flikweert. Loving father of Janet Van Bakel (Ronald) of Stittsville and William Flikweert of Maitland. Cherished grandfather of Alan Charlton, Andrew and Eric Van Bakel, Iylish and Isabella Flikweert. Dear brother of Jan Flikweert (Riet), Lida Buitelaar (Krijn), Adrian Flikweert (Aida), Nelie deHaan (Ko) and the late Henry Flikweert. Son of the late Willem and Neeltje (Honders) Flikweert. Matt will also be missed by many nieces and nephews. Matt enjoyed many years as a reporter for the Athens Mural and with his time in the Brockville Rifles. (Graduate of Brockville School of Nursing, 1942) Peacefully at the St. Lawrence Lodge in Brockville on Saturday, January 23rd, 2016. Vera (nee Blanchard) formerly of Kingston aged 95 years. Beloved wife of the late George Lilley and Joseph Black. Dear sister of the late Harold (Margaret), Fred (Mary) and Glenn Blanchard (Ruth). Loving aunt to Meryl Airhart (Fred), Tom Blanchard (Susan), Maureen Taylor (Steven), Calvin and Greg Blanchard (Rose) and Sheila Lee (Regan). Joseph Whitehouse Rotheram

At the Ottawa General Hospital on August 24, 2016 at the age of 84 years. Beloved husband of 59 years to Irene Patricia (née Maher). Dear father of Anita of Ottawa and Geoff (Sue) of Crysler. Loved grandfather of Andrew (Alyssa), Joseph, and Amelia. Survived by his sister Rene Sephton and niece Helen Sephton. Joseph is predeceased by his brother Stephen and nieces Pamela Wilde and Susan Getchell. In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place. Jack Haworth

Veteran of WWII RCAF - After a brief illness, Jack Haworth died peacefully at the Cornwall Community Hospital on Monday, December 26, 2016 at the age of 94 years. He was the dearly beloved husband of Patricia (Brindley) for 58 years. He will be sadly missed by his three children Christopher (Shirin), Tony (Mary Bee) and Hilary (James) and his grandchildren Miryam, Christian and Hannah, as well as his sister-in-law Anne Welch (late Jim). He was predeceased by his parents Arnold and Winifred (Green) Haworth, and by his wife’s twin sister Barbara Hackett (late Donald). Jack was a graduate of Queen’s University in Applied Science, he pursued an engineering career until he found his true vocation as an adult education co-ordinator and professor at St. Lawrence College. Lynn Walker

Lynn retired last August as Associate Dean, Online and Continuing Education. She served as a member of the College’s Board of Governors. She made a difference in every position she took on, including the President’s Office, Human Resources, EDD, Contract Training, Continuing Education and Distance Education.  Lynn passed away peacefully, with her sons by her side, at her residence on Monday January 9, 2017. Carol Lynn Walker (nee Blakeman) of Brockville aged 70 years. Loving mother to Jason (Kathy) of Brooklin, Ontario and Darren (Lisa) of Ottawa. Proud grandmother of Olivia, Mitchell, Sawyer, MacKenzie, Madison, Livia and Vaughan. Lynn is also survived by her siblings Rod, Billy, Dale, Nancy and Joanne.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle at the Kingston General Hospital on Monday, August 29, 2016. Roger Frederick Rhodes, at the age of 70 years. Beloved husband and best friend of Sheila (nee Amyotte) and dear father of Kelly Ann McIver and her husband Joseph. Survived by his granddaughter Ava Leigh and by his sister Judith Curtis (Al) and their children Scott Curtis (Erin) and their children Kenyon and Lorelai and Ryan Curtis and his children Madisyn, Bryer and Gage. Also survived by his brothers-in-law William (Wink) Amyotte and his wife Sandra and their children Adam Folco and Nick Amyotte (Liza), Irving Amyotte (Sandra), daughter Teri Amyotte and her son Kalen; Stephen (Jessica) and their son's Nicholas and Logan; Allan Amyotte (Nancy) and their two sons Justin and Lance. Sister-in-law Lynn Amyotte (Wayne deceased) and her two daughter's Shannon and Amanda. Roger was predeceased by his parents Marjorie and Roger Rhodes. Roger was an avid golfer and curler and was the Past President (1998-2000) as well as a member of the membership committee of the Brockville Country Club. He was Past President of the Advocis, a certified financial planner and an elder planning counselor. He was a member of the Brockville and Prescott Chamber of Commerce as well as the Ad and Sales Club. For a number of years Roger worked at Phillips Cables as well as Co-Operators Insurance, Clarica, BMO and lately for W.A. Pakeman & Associates. She will be sadly missed by her children Deborah, Kevin (Jenn) and Wendy, as well as by her former son-in-law Robert Kirkey. Pat leaves behind five grandchildren, Talen, Taylor, Ceillidh, Orion and Jayden, and two great grandchildren, Vayda and Seren (aka Little Johnny). Pat will always be fondly remembered and forever missed by Kandy and Joshua Kirkey who proudly called her Nanna Pat, and by special family friends William Hutt Jr. and Pamela Panagapko. It is with heavy hearts I share the passing of beloved husband Stephen John Morton after a short illness. Steph was surrounded by his loving family, when he left this world to start a new adventure, on Friday January 29, 2016. Steph will be missed by his wife Sandy (nee Culbert), brother-in-law Robert, nephews Kyle, Kevin & Erin Culbert, mother-in-law Marylin "Mommsie", father-in-law Carman "Popsie", sister Peggy Heeney, niece Sarah Heeney (Michael MacHale), nephew Mark Heeney (Kristy). Predeceased by his brother David Morton and his parents Gwen and Smitson Morton, his adopted nephew Scott Stewart, and his many co-workers at Pathways for Children and Youth. John Deboer

Frances Ann Walsh

Registered Practical Nurse - Psychiatric Nursing – B -

June 29, 1955 - January 30, 2016. Peacefully, surrounded by loved ones at Hotel Dieu Grace Healthcare. Fran passed away just 4 months after being diagnosed with scleroderma. She is preceded in death by her loving mother Effie Walsh (March, 2012). Survived by her cousins in Canada and the United States as well as her chosen family Jo-Lene and her husband Craig Campbell and their boys but known to everyone as "HER BOYS" Mitchell, Zachary and CJ. Fran was a double retired nurse (RPN and RN) after 38 years. Fran had the biggest heart and her positivity was contagious. Fran loved her music and her voice would bring many to tears at many occasions, including talent contests. If desired, memorial donations made to the Scleroderma Society of Ontario would be appreciated by the family.

Jean-Marc Poulin

Electronics Engineering Technician – C - 1999

It is with great sadness that the family of Jean Marc Poulin announce his passing at the age of 37 years old after a difficult battle with cancer. Jean Marc leaves to mourn, his wife Maureen Amistoso, his son Daniel and unborn son Jacob. He also leaves his parents, Andre and Jackie Poulin of Cornwall, his beloved sister Michelle of Edmonton, his grandfather Rene Poulin along with a wide span of aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends. Jean Marc was always a "glass half full" type of person, positive and generous in his time and resources. He supported many charities in developing countries having travelled there to do actual work and rebuilds after natural disasters. Throughout his illness, a large number of people across the world reached out to him to offer support and encouragement. His friends will remember him as a kind soul, always ready to help or have a night of board games or online gaming. Several of these friends were with him until his end. Jean Marc worked in lighting technical support for Philips and in the course of his work, travelled extensively throughout Canada and the US. He made some great friendships through the years. Donations to the Cancer Society or the St. Vincent de Paul Society in his name would be appreciated by the family.

Brent James Griffiths - Detective - Kingston City Police. Peacefully at home, surrounded by his family on Thursday, February 25, 2016 in his 37th year. Beloved husband and best friend of Alison Griffiths (née Stymest). Dearly loved father of his twins, Jack and Lily. Sadly missed by his parents Ron and Dawn Griffiths, brothers Mitch and David, and grandmothers Norma Griffiths and Cindy Creaser. Fondly remembered son-in-law of Harvey and Gloria Stymest, brother-in-law Jeff Stymest (Jamie) and their children Alix and Sam. A heartfelt thanks to Dr. Harle, Dr. Booth and Nurse Kim MacEachern for the compassionate care shown to Brent and our family. Throughout Brent's illness, the outpouring support of family, friends, colleagues and the community has been greatly appreciated. Our family has been truly blessed. Passed away peacefully at Kingston General Hospital on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 with her family by her side. Karen Anne beloved mother of Amy (Rob) and Evan, dear daughter of Joan and Carl (Linda), loving sister of Barbara (Darren) and Colin (Robyn). She will be sadly missed by her extended family and numerous nieces and nephews. In keeping with Karen's wishes cremation has taken place. Memorial donations to UHKF of Southeastern Ontario Cancer Centre - Ovarian Cancer Unit, 55 Rideau Street Suit 4, Kingston, Ontario, K7K 2Z8 or Kingscourt Free Methodist Church would be appreciated by the family.

Suddenly on October 19, 2016 at his residence in Kingston at the age of 29. Loving son to Gaye and Marty Dunlop. Dear brother to Lauren (Brendan Mcstravick). Cherished grandson to Marie Martin (predeceased Robert) & William and Jackie Dunlop. Survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins. James loved all animals, motorcycle riding, reading and gaming. 29-December-1992 - 27-June-2016. Unexpectedly at home, while doing what he loved. Cherished son of Roberta (Brian) and Mauro. Beloved brother of Brianna (Alex), and adored by the love of his life, Danielle. Much loved grandson of Nonna Ida, and predeceased by grandparents Inez and Robert Lees and Enrico Faroldi. Brady will be deeply missed by his aunts and uncles, cousins, step-sisters, and numerous friends, especially his “little bro” Daniel. Brady truly had a love for life, and jumped in with both feet to everything he did. He positively impacted every person that he met, a trait that served him well as he pursued his dream of becoming a teacher. In the words of Brady’s idol, Mr. Feeny from Boy Meets World, "Believe in yourselves. Dream. Try. Do Good." In lieu of flowers, donations to The Food Sharing Project or the Boys and Girls Club of Kingston would be appreciated.

(1992 - 2016) - It is with heavy hearts that we must announce that Dylan was taken suddenly from us far too soon on Friday, July 22, 2016 at the age of 24. Beloved son of Darrell and Linda McCullough. Stepson of the late Don Blair. Dear grandson of Marilyn Albertson and the late Jim Albertson, Shirley McCullough and the late Neil McCullough. He will be sadly missed by his aunts and uncles, Laurie Walsh (Dave), Donna White, Derrick McCullough (Jo-Ann), Darren McCullough (Sherri); cousins Kaitlin and Ryan Walsh, Brandy White, Brooke and DJ McCullough, Taylor and Megan McCullough. He will be missed by his K9 friends Buddy and Harley. Forever Best Friend (Brother) of Jared Haird, Artel and Trackis Costa and Jamie Katsabanis (Khaki).
